Hello! My name is Kellyn and I've been baking as long as I can remember. Butter, sugar, and flour have been part of my DNA from the start. My mom and grandmother taught me how to combine simple ingredients to make beautiful, delicious, crave-worthy treats as soon as they could. There are pictures of me at four years old, rolling out homemade cookie dough, way too small to reach the counter on my own.

Since then baking has become my solace. A place to be when I'm stressed out, directionless, or need a pick-me-up. It's where I go when I need to show friends or family how much I love them and how happy I am to see them. It has been a place to learn and grow, as well as somewhere to go when I've needed comfort. I've spent time perfecting my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe. I've learned pie dough from my mom and learned about the best peanut butter pie from my grandma. And I've painstakingly learned how to flood royal icing on to my great-grandma's legendary sugar cookies.
Despite carrying baking through childhood, teenage years, college, and now the beginnings of adulthood, I still feel like I've only touched the tip of the iceberg. There is still so much left for me to learn. In a dream world I would spend my days in pastry school, dedicating most of my time to the art - but in this current world, that is not an option. I've decided to learn by working my way through one cookbook at a time. I'll do my best to learn straight from some of my favorite experts themselves. This blog is to focus on that journey, from amateur
to a little less amateur, right from my own home. You're welcome to come on this long and winding road with me.
To start, a debut release from my personal favorite: Dessert Person by Claire Saffitz.
